Yahoo, it’s Friday! What delicious self-care and good food are you going to cook up this weekend, friend? To fire up the celebration, voilà this week’s cat-related gems from around the www + cat parent forum.

  • “Alexa! Please learn everything about cats” - Can we get an amen?! Have you seen Lasse Linder's 17min documentary "All Cats are Gray in the Dark," from which this gem of a request comes? It’s about an older Austria man, Christian Amann, who lives life fully with his two beloved Scottish Fold cats, Marmelade and Katyusha. For such a quiet, day-in-the-life film, it packs so much feeling and invitations for discussion (What is a good life? And what are the ethics of witnessing, enabling even, your furbabies’ reproduction?). Also, that scene of the three of them waltzing via a shopping cart in the supermarket … magic!

  • Since learning about little Leon - I’m sorry, Dr. Leon Advogato, Attorney At Law - ’s story from homelessness and complained about to beloved official lawyer at the Order of Attorneys of Brazil, I’ve been following his adventures. Did you know he’s quite the cat rescue advocate on Instagram? P.s. All respectable law firms should have an in-house Cat Counsel. “Yes, Your Honor, my case is purrfect and I did indeed wake up like this” ;)

  • (Above) Self-described “bon vivant paper artist from Lima, Peru” Kike Congrains' artwork covers a fascinating range of topics and exude a general surrealist sensibility. His Cool Cat portraits, made with glue, colored paper, and old magazine, are my favorite. Have you seen them?

Community Discussion Prompt of the week: Little Blessings

This has been a challenging week for my family, with my grandma in the hospital for a broken hip and other concerning issues. After the tsunamis of frustration and anxiety abated slightly, I’ve cherished even more the little blessings of daily life. Taking a walk around my neighborhood and seeing neighbors’ cats, lounging regally on a cat tree or windowsills at their domain (house panthers they may be, but the command of all the land remains theirs :). What little blessings are you and your furbabies cherishing this week, friend?

p.s. If you are new (welcome!) or it’s been a minute, please check out the Community Discussion Guidelines & then chime in!
