Community Discussion Guidelines

Meeting

Hip Hip Hooray! Three cheers for community!

Idea exchanges, heart-to-heart conversations, & resource parties - this is what we’re all about here at Junipurr Studio!

Though you can - and we LOVE when you do! - comment on any post, or email us directly, our Friday Link Pack & Community Discussion (FLPCD) ritual is a dedicated space for, well, community discussions! After all, we are a digital hub for cat parents and the whole extended family ;)

If you are new to Junipurr Studio or to this esteemed tradition, please familiarize yourself with the ground rules of participation. Trust, there are only three and they are all fabulous & feasible.

Ground Rules for Junipurr Studio Community Discussion

  1. Exercise compassion. Compassion is a muscle, one that needs flexin’ everyday. As citizens of a digital age, we have all see people acting wack in the anonymous, low-accountability environment of the internet — but that ain’t us cat parents and animal advocates! So, come to the discussion with your open heart and open mind. Practically, this means that if you read something you resonate with, shout at an amen! We all like to know that we are not alone and that our geniuses are appreciated. If you encounter a perspective that you don’t immediately agree with, give yourself the gift of a little time and space before issuing a cease and decease manifesto. Consider if there could be any dewdrops of value in this perspective? Where could they be coming from? Let curiosity and empathy be your guide.

  2. Relish diversity! Every sentient being is an individual. As roommates of cat, we know this truth viscerally. Naturally, what wellness and thriving look like for each family is unique. So, do the Taylor Swift/Mariah Carey and shake off any assumptions about what one must or should do. Find joy & wonder in the fact that there are so many different minds and hearts coming together for the love of cats and all animals. Practically, this means that comments with the sentiment “If you cared about your furbaby, then you must/would …” and shame-based call outs are not tolerated. Not only will such comments be deleted, we may also ask you to sit out the next three FLPCDs and just watch and learn the rules of community. Of course, healthy and compassionate (see rule #1) debate is a part of celebrating diversity. To paraphrase the parenting sage Amy Poehler: “Good for [you]! Not for me.”

  3. Share generously and truthfully. Contradicting info, new research, brilliant epiphanies and inventions plume like clouds across the sky that is cat parenting and animal advocacy. Though beautiful, even dazzling, this space can be difficult to navigate. So, please share as generously and truthfully as you possibly can, knowing that we are all here on this journey as wayfinders together. Practically, this means: If you have an idea, hot tip, resource recommendation, chime in! Try to share not only the what but also a little about the why and how, then drop the mic. (Note, if you’d like to pitch your business, product, channel etc., please run it by us first via email. The community forum is for unbiased knowledge sharing.)
