Happy Friday, friend! What delightful treats are you looking forward to this weekend? I’m re-reading Hannah Shaw’s Tiny But Mighty: Kitten Lady's Guide to Saving the Most Vulnerable Felines in anticipation of my workshop this weekend to become a foster mama with the shelter from where I adopted Junipurr (!). Juni is showing her full approval by gnawing on the pages like Toothless the Dragon. Lots of serious studying ahead! :D

Here are some Friday Feline Finds for your heart:

  • Do you have any implicit agreements with your furbabies? Juni and I have a deal that if I lift her closer to an object of interest (99% of time, a spider web), I get to give her a forehead kiss. I’m sure she has plenty of thoughts about this 😾

  • The hand-colored albumen silver print above, ‘Sleeping Cat,’ was taken by British photographer William H. Mason in 1870. For a bit of chronological reference, photography was invented just 50 or so years earlier, around the 1820s. As a mamarazzi, I love that The Cat was recognized as a preeminent subject in the early decades of this new artform 😸

  • One of my favorite The New Yorker covers ever. Of course it features a cat and is entitled ‘Luxurious Quiet And Cozy’

  • Have you heard about The Red Shed? I first heard it described as a “Red Cross for animals” in a news article about their work, along with numerous shelters (e.g. Gostomel Shelter, 20 kilometers northwest of Kyiv) and people, helping animals in crisis in this war in Ukraine. They are evacuating countless animals — #NoAnimalsLeftBehind — and donating essential supplies to shelters in Ukraine, Romania, Hungary and Poland. If you’d like to help, you can donate, adopt displaced and homeless companion animals, volunteer, and/or help spread the word. If you know any other ideas or organizations to help displaced animals, please do share in the comments below. Thank you! ❤️

Hope you have a weekend full of joy and wellness, friend!
