Weekend vibes, Junipurr Edition: Windowsills & Nooseboops

Happy Friday, friends! What are you and your furbaby up to this weekend? Junipurr is hoping to discover some spiderwebs, aka her version of cotton candy 😸, and I’m looking forward to my weekly volunteer shift at the wildlife rehabilitation center. A friend and fellow volunteer texted me this:I was cleaning the dove aviary on Sunday and watched a baby swallow making itself comfy on the back of an adult mourning dove. The dove walked around with it on its back trying to get it off, and finally gave up, letting the baby sleep on its back.” Doesn’t that just give you all the feels?!

Voilà five fabulous cat gems from around the www to beam you into the weekend:

  • Cat tattoos always make my heart gooey, and this one is the bee’s knees! (Tho my dear friend and fellow cat mama Melissa’s tattoo tribute to her first cat Johnny is THE best)

  • Fav lines from Rachel Hinkel-Wang’s What the Cat Will Do: “The cat will give you a new seasoning for your food called fur… The cat will have you wishing you were a cat. You will start sleeping the day away in polygons of sunlight.” (via McSweeney)

  • I think my cat is trying to pet me - Teehee!

  • Calling my fellow stationary nerds! How trippy is this Notebook Therapy cat toothpaste pencil holder?

  • Remember that 2018 Ava Max hit? I just realized why it felt so familiar: Cute but Psycho

Community Discussion Prompt:

This week the U.S. House of Representatives passed the “Recovering America’s Wildlife Act of 2021,” which will commit $1.3 billion annually to endangered wildlife conservation and education. What do you think we, civilian pet parents, can do to advance wildlife and ecosystem conservation? Alternatively, what questions would you like to ask congress people about animal protection law?
