Tell Junipurr It’s Friday!

Friday is kinda like a celebrity, isn’t it? The moment Friday appears, a crowd of ecstatic people beeline towards it. Next thing you know, you can’t see Friday no more because the bodyguard - I mean Sunday Night - has blocked the view. Kidding!

Anyway, what virtual jam sessions or solo dance parties do you have planned for this weekend, friend? Now that we are hip deep in hygge season, we are turning up the holiday tunes. I am of the humble opinion that Ella Fitzgerald’s Christmas album is the one and only Christmas album the world needs (THERE I SAID IT!), but three-year-old Juni is more into avant garde, high frequency kinda sounds I can’t even hear ;) There’s something for everyone in the musical world!

To start the jamming, voilà some music-related cat gems + this week’s discussion prompt.

  • If you ain’t heard Rescue Rap, you should remedy that right quick. Little known fact: Famed animal rescuer KittenLady, who has fostered hundreds (if not more) orphaned kittens, puppies, and piglets into health, has also created a whole new genre of music.

  • (Above) If your furbaby wants to get in on the good music too, this lullaby for cat from Haburu is … surprising! I mean, I’m a sound sleeper and all, but this is next level. Getting some meowssage with that mewsic, I guess? As FP would say: “That meowssage is on key” #dadjoke #smh

  • It may not surprise you that I collect cat songs. As in: I have multiple playlists on Spotify with names like “Juni’s Lullabies” and “Songs That Mention Cat (1x or More)” and “Songs by People/Bands With Cat in Their Name.” Yeah, no shame. I especially love songs that surprise you with an unexpected cat reference, which is why “Brad Pitt’s Cousin” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is one of my favs. Also, like a movie based on true story, Cairo is real!

Community Discussion Prompt: Catify Spotify

You know how there are mirrors everywhere in life? Like best friends who tell you the truth (with love), reading old diaries (and seeing reflected back to you how far you’ve come, of course), and tech companies who provide eerie but fascinating data-based summaries on you? Yup, we got out Spotify Wrapped Year in Review, too. I’ve already shared far too much (see third link above) about my mewsical habits. What’s yours? Any favorite songs about cats, by cats, to cats you love? All languages welcome!

p.s. If you are new (welcome!) or it’s been a minute, please check out the Community Discussion Guidelines & chime in!
